Lesson Objectives               : By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to:
i)    Listen and respond to stimulus given:
                                                       (f) voice sounds
ii)     Listen and tick the correct place.
iii)    Listen and circle the places in the school.
iv)    Ask and respond to their real life activities in the
      school using correct sentence structure.

Teaching-Learning
Resources/Materials            : Sound clip of a school bell. Power Point Presentation.  
                                                  (word slides / pictures of places in the school),
                                                  a  recorded audio, Worksheet 1,
                                                  Worksheet 2a and 2b.

(± 8 minutes)


i)      Teacher plays a sound clip of a school bell and asks pupils about the sound clips. Teacher reveals the topic of the day: “Places in the School.”

ii)      Teacher shows picture  introduces new vocabulary.

·         Music Room

To arouse the pupils’ interest and to relate them to the topic of the day.



To drill pupils’ pronunciation and intonation.
While listening
(± 12 minutes)


i)      Teacher shows the picture of above places and instructed pupils to say the places.

ii)   Teacher pastes the picture of places around the classroom

iii)    Teacher tells pupils that they are going to listen to the recording words. 

iv)   Teacher instructs pupils to point at the picture when they hear the name of places in the recording.

v)    Teacher plays recording for the first time to get pupils listen with the recorded words.

vi)   Pupils point at the picture of place while they listening to the recording.

vii)  Teacher distributes Worksheet 1 to pupils.

viii) Teacher plays the recording for the second time and asks the pupils to tick the correct place that they heard.

ix)   Teacher plays the recording for the third time and asks pupils to compare their answers with their friends sitting next to them. A small discussion could be held to verify their answers.

x)    Teacher shows the answers on the slide and asks the pupils to check their answer.
xi)   Teacher tells pupils that they are going to listen to the recording  and asks them to focus on the places mentioned in the recording.

xii)  Teacher distributes  worksheets 2a for low proficiency pupils  and worksheet 2b for high proficiency pupils to the pupils.

xiii) Teacher asks pupils to circle the places that mentioned in the audio.

xiv)Teacher plays the audio again and asks the pupils to check their answer.









To prepare them to listen for simple information.

Post listening
(± 10 minutes)


i)   Teacher divides the pupils into 2 groups. Each group 10 pupils.

ii)  Teacher gives each group 5 pieces of word cards and 5 pieces of picture cards

iii)  Pupils are instructed to find their friend by matching the word card to the picture.

iv)  When pupils match correctly, they have to say out the word together.

v) Pupils paste the word cards and picture cards on the “Word Wall”.

To summarize the listening lesson and to prepare them for speaking lesson.

Presentation
(± 5 minutes)





i)     Teacher shows the places in the school by using power point slides.

ii)    Teacher introduces the new vocabulary. 
  •       study 
  •       read 
  •       play 
  •       eat 

iii)   Teacher shows a question

Question:
What do you do in the classroom?

iv)  Teacher shows the question on the board and asks the pupils to repeat the question. Then, teacher asks pupils try to answer the question.

v)   Teacher shows the answer on the board and says the sentence aloud.
(Answer)
I study in the classroom.

vi)  Teacher asks the pupils to repeat the answer.

vii) Teacher repeats Step( iv) to    Step (vi) for the following vocabulary:
a)    I read in the library.
b)    I play in the field.
c)    I eat in the canteen.


To revise the pupils’ previous knowledge about places in the school.

To connect the new knowledge to previous knowledge.





To encourage and provide pupils with the opportunities to practice speaking using correct sentence structures.














To drill their speaking skill.
Practice
(± 10 minutes)

i)     Pupils work in pairs.

ii)    Teacher shows pictures of the placs in the slide.

iii)   Teacher instructs pupils to work in pair  and gives instruction:
Pupils A asks pupils B:
What do you do in the classroom?
Pupils B answer:
I study in the classroom.

iv)  Pupils carry on above activities with other places which are shown in the slides.

v)   Teacher guides pupils during the activities.








To encourage pupils to practice asking and answering to help them develop their speaking skills.

To build up the confident of the pupils in speaking the language.

To practice the skill of constructing sentence.
Production
(± 10 minutes)

i)     Teacher erases the sentence
     on board.

ii)    Pupils are instructed to work in pairs.

iii)   Teacher distributes each pair of pupils with word cards of places in the school.

iv)  Pupils A shuffles the cards and Pupil B draw a card and asks a question according to the word and Pupil A answers.

v)   They take turns to complete this activity.
To develop and strengthen pupils’ listening and speaking skill.



To build up the confident of the pupils’ in communicating in English through games.

Closure
(± 5 minutes)

i)     Teacher shows a lyrics song. 
      ( Tune : The more we get together)

ii)    Teacher asks the pupils to sing the song together.
